After nearly a year and a half, CareTreks is officially “open”! There isn’t a traditional storefront or a place about which to say, “Come and see”, but, the fact that the most of the housekeeping-type items on the pre-launch checklist are complete feels pretty good. I am genuinely excited to begin helping other Family Caregivers navigate their Caregiving Journey. While no two Journeys are exactly alike, there are basic guideposts, skills and preparations that can benefit nearly all who find themselves in a Caregiving role.
The whole purpose of CareTreks is to meet Caregivers where they are in their Journey – both physically and emotionally – and to provide them with the skills, knowledge and support they need in order to provide the best care they are capable of for their loved ones.
I am by no means perfect or knowledgeable about each potential scenario or detail that every other Caregiver might possibly experience. My plan is to share the knowledge I have and seek the knowledge I don’t have – all the while learning from the experiences, wisdom and compassion of other Caregivers.
My goal for this blog is to share stories from my Caregiving Journey, provide information about products and services I have found helpful, pass along interesting research, stories and resources that I come across and, hopefully, to make sure other Caregivers know that they are not alone. It’s amazing how isolated a Caregiver can feel in the middle of a crowded room. Hopefully this becomes a forum where Caregivers can laugh a little, cry a little and know that there are other people out there on a similar Journey.
So here we go – together – doing the best we can to improve the lives of those around us.
